ACCREDITATION - Siksika Health Services commenced the process for Accreditation beginning in April 2007 with 8 (eight) teams participating in the process, as well as client/staff/partner and community focus groups. Self assessments were completed by October 2007 and the teams then began working on the standards recommended by Accreditation Canada. Upon completion of the standards a survey was held in December 2007 that determined the status of Siksika Health Services process with Accreditation. The initial outcome was to be received 45 days after the survey, however, it was not received by Siksika Health Services until May 2007 and the organization was granted Accreditation with Reports and Focused Visit.

REPORTING & FOCUSED VISIT, BEARING FRUITS SESSION - As mentioned Accreditation was granted with reports and focused visit and the following reporting dates and number of required organizational practices were completed, as well as other educational aspects important to the ongoing process of Accreditation. Bearing Fruits Session - This educational aspect was held in May 2008 and assisted the organization in educating all staff (accreditation teams) in understanding the Accreditation Survey report and how to use the report to improve the organizations ongoing operations. Specifically in the areas of Leadership/Partnership, Environment, Human Resources, Information Management, Community Health, Home Care, Additions, and Long Term Care.

1st REPORT - September 30th, 2008 - 21 (twenty one) required organizational practices recommended, all completed by Siksika Health Services and reported to Accreditation Canada. 2nd REPORT September 30th, 2009 - 18 (eighteen) required organizational practices, all completed by Siksika Health Services and reported to Accreditation Canada. Focused Visit - As part of the requirements for receiving Accreditation status a focused visit was recommended. The purpose of the visit was to verify that sufficient progress was made in specific areas since the last report or survey and to further confirm that organizations status.

The focus visit was completed on March 20th, 2009 with John Hassan – Accreditation Canada Surveyor.

PROGRESS REPORTS from ACCREDITATION CANADA - Since commencing the process for Accreditation several reports have been received from Accreditation Canada regarding the outcomes of the self assessments, survey and focused visit. 1st Report - March 2007, Accreditation with Reports & Focused Visit granted 2nd Report - April 2009 report on September 2008 submissions 3rd Report - March 2009 report on March 20th, 2009 Focused Visit by John Hassan 2nd Report - November 2009 report on September 2009 submissions All reports commended Siksika Health Services in the team work and dedication in completing the Accreditation process and are attached to this report.
